One-third of suspected predatory journals appoint ‘Dr Anna, a fraud’ as editor

One-third of predatory academic journals, targeted in a sting operation, appointed an editor named Dr Anna O Szust, whose name, when translated from Polish to English, means ‘Dr Anna, a fraud'.

  1. Apparently you did not read carefully the paper reported here. “120 academic journals appoint ‘Dr Anna, a fraud’ as editor” is not correct.
    It is 33% of 120 “predatory journals” (=40) and 7% of 120 “DOAJ journals” = 9 -> 49 journals totoal

  2. This trend is exacerbated by the ‘publish or perish’ culture, but it is not exasperated by it. We academics are the ones who are exasperated by it.
