Australia is at the forefront in many high-tech areas and India seeks some of that technology.
There are major opportunities for growth in the trade and business relationship between Australia and India, the chairman of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata, told a packed audience at the University of NSW last week. Tata also pointed to the enormous scope for businesses here to export products to India at a scale Australia can't currently provide, with India adding the equivalent of the Australian population annually. The honorary degree, UNSW's highest award, recognises his service to the global community and was presented on the eve of his retirement.
