The vice-chancellor of Monash University, Professor Ed Byrne AO, has congratulated Prime Minister Julia Gillard and the federal government on the release of its new white paper and its plans for establishment of a new ministry for the “Asian Century”. He said Monash University has been building relationships with Asia for over 25 years and applauds the goal to increase the number of Australian universities with a physical presence in Asia.
