Slee to head new research institute at Victoria University

Professor Roger Slee has been appointed inaugural director of the Institute of Diversity, Educational Access and Success at Victoria University. He has a long and impressive record of research in education. His research interests over the years have concerned education policy-making, disability studies and social and educational exclusion with a focus on the marginalisation of vulnerable groups and the intersections of poverty and educational failure. Slee, a former deputy director-general of the Queensland Education Department, is returning to Australia following a long period working at universities in Canada and London. His most recent position has been as Professor of Inclusive Education at the Institute of Education in the University of London. He will take up his appointment in August.
