The Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) has appointed Melanie O’Toole general manager, business development. ACPET chief executive Claire Field said the newly created role would focus on identifying and creating new business opportunities for ACPET members by working with government and industry partners. A former director international at Lincoln University in New Zealand, O’Toole brings to ACPET more than 10 years’ senior experience from the higher education, vocational education and ELICOS sectors in Australia and New Zealand ACPET. Most recently, O’Toole managed the Victorian government’s tertiary international education export division, implementing extensive changes and driving policy debate to address tertiary education quality and student support initiatives. ACPET also recently appointed Paula Johnston as general manager corporate and member services. She joins the council after an extensive career in state and commonwealth public service, focused on workforce issues and especially the education and training industry.
