Professor Pauline Nugent takes over next month as deputy vice-chancellor (academic) at the Australian Catholic University. A former nurse and the 2009 Victorian Businesswoman of the Year, Nugent has been ACU’s dean of health sciences since 2007. Before that she spent 10 years at Deakin University, as head of its nursing school and inaugural chair of nursing development. In addition. Nugent has held positions with Victoria’s health boards – including a current directorship on the Board of Eastern Health – and with numerous taskforces dealing with nursing education and health workforce issues.
