This article contradicts itself in a couple of places. Firstly it states ‘ review that found them safe and effective.’ Then it states ‘The review showed the known benefits clearly outweigh the risks of using nano-sunscreens.’ Then it finally states ‘danger of excessive UV light itself, with respect to skin damage and cancer, is far greater than the perceived risk posed by nano-sunscreens, which is not supported by the scientific literature.’ If nano particle sunscreen is safe, what are the risks as stated when you say ‘outweigh the risks’?
It may be fine for humans, but recent research shows it’s very bad for the marine environment (see http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/etc.2560/abstract ).
