Is flexibility the most critical factor when choosing an LMS?

For many universities and training organisations, learning management systems (LMS) are not there to only deliver learning. More often than not, an LMS is at the core of an institution’s key operational processes including: enrolments and student management, communication and collaboration, assessments and results management, even compliance reporting. 

When nothing ever stands still – as your institution grows, adjusts teaching and learning strategies, introduces new systems, or needs to address revised compliance requirements – you want an LMS that will easily adapt to all those changes. Therefore, when choosing an LMS, your decision must factor in flexibility – how your LMS will respond to change for years to come. 

What should an LMS look like in 2030?

At the MoodleMoot Australia 2025 Panel Discussion, Catalyst IT (a premium certified Moodle partner) brought together educators, learning designers and EdTech product specialists to discuss some of the burning questions on the educational technology landscape, including:

Let’s define flexibility

• Easily integrate it with existing business and education systems

• Accommodate multiple organisational structures

• Have pricing and supplier (technology partner) flexibility
• Have full access to your LMS
• Have control of upgrades and enhancements roadmap.
