Two hours of sun a day helps keep the myopia away: research

Children need to spend two hours a day outdoors to combat the increasing risk of short-sightedness, new Queensland University of Techology-led research has found.

  1. Picking up myopia in children requires a good screening process. As a child with myopia, in a small country town, my choice was to stay inside and read a book instead of going outside, because I couldn’t see well enough to function outside, but could (and still can) read well without glasses. This wasn’t picked up until I was 10 years old, but which stage I was a very competent reader, but poor at normal kid’s activities such as running about or swimming.
