Kaplan appointed dean at QUT

Professor Simon Kaplan has been appointed the first executive dean of the new Faculty of Science and Technology at Queensland University of Technology. Kaplan joined QUT in 2004 as the Faculty of Information Technology executive dean. He began his academic career at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where he undertook his computer science PhD and was a lecturer. He has taught at the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) and the University of Illinois, US. Before he joined QUT, Kaplan was head of the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at University of Queensland. Kaplan will take up his appointment when the new faculty becomes operational on January 1.
