Former chief justice to head review into free speech on campus

A review into freedom of speech at Australian universities has been announced by the federal government, to be conducted by former High Court chief justice Robert French.

Although I do not have a firm opinion either way (on my own campus freedom of speech does not seem to be much of an issue), it does appear slightly odd to me that a review which was instigated by a speech made by a particular person should then be overseen and conducted by that same person. Does that not seem to be asking for a very predictable result?
