Increased regulation is action after “the horse has bolted” and it virtually an impossible job to effectively regulate some 5,0000 private RTOs. The cost of regulation increases while the reaping of profit from public funds continues — how has efficiency and effectiveness been achieved? And at what additional costs and administration?.- Unbelievable that it was never considered that private education would attract profiteering from public funds with little understanding of training and education. Much more than “regulation” is required to return to try and return to a world class VET System — Very important to reduce the influence of Government advisers that have a conflict of interest particularly on national Committees. “Profit from public funds” versus “education and training” —-There is no evidence that privatising, commodifying and marketising education and training leads to quality outcomes – there is evidence that it leads to shortcuts, profiteering and ill-trained students..
