Mackay installed as Canberra chancellor

Dr John Mackay has been installed as chancellor at the University of Canberra. Mackay, a University of Canberra graduate with a distinguished career in commerce and public administration, takes over as chancellor from Professor Ingrid Moses. Mackay said he was taking on the role in an exciting period in the University’s history. University of Canberra vice-chancellor Professor Stephen Parker welcomed the appointment. Parker said Mackay brought a wealth of commercial and government experience to the governing body of the university which would help them take advantage of exciting times ahead. For the past decade Mackay has been CEO of Canberra’s major utility company, ActewAGL. He has also had a distinguished 30-year career in the Australian public service including the role deputy secretary of the Department of Finance and Administration He was awarded an Order of Australia in 2004.
