Professor Andy Flitman (pictured) has been appointed acting vice-chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology, starting early next month. Currently Swinburne’s deputy vice-chancellor (research), Flitman will fill in between the departure of vice-chancellor Professor Ian Young – who is taking up the reins at the Australian National University – and the arrival of a new vice-chancellor. Flitman is an internationally recognised expert in financial and strategic computer modelling. He joined Swinburne in mid-2007 following a stint as dean of Deakin University’s faculty of science and technology. His academic career has also included positions at Monash University and Warwick University in Britain.
