Graduates told they lack the skills for jobs

Concerning new research shows that 65 per cent of university graduates feel their education did not provide them with the skills necessary for the workforce, with many being turned away from employment.

The survey results quoted in this article and also the corresponding comments contradict the messages coming from other national surveys about employer satisfaction (namely the 2016 Employer Satisfaction Survey prepared by QILT). I’ve attached the link below for those who are interested but basically 84% of surveyed employers were satisfied with a range of skills that new graduates brought with them (Page 5 of the report). The survey also goes on to say (Page 13 of the report) that nearly 76% graduates felt their degrees played a relevant role in their current employment.

    The only shocking thing about this article is how inaccurate it is.
