State as nation state

Differences among the Australian states and territories in school-to-work transition outcomes are dramatic, ranging from well above the OECD average to well below. And the differences found in a recent analysis of OECD and ABS data are considerably greater than can be explained by variations in economic and social structures¹.. Victoria and the NT also perform well above the OECD average and NSW somewhat above. The other states and territories are quite close to the OECD average.
