Macquarie academics say they’re being replaced with casuals

Staff have been cut from a number of courses that have increased in popularity as total teaching hours remain the same.

Three academics from Macquarie Universitys Faculty of Arts have raised concerns that university management has replaced full-time academics with casual teaching staff to cut costs.

  1. What the hell is going on with universities? They should be places where people can pursue their interests irrespective of whether there is going to be a return or not.

    Stop running them like businesses. They should be a question of culture, not commerce.
