London School of Economics claims first carbon neutral status in the UK, but debate remains

The London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) has been independently verified as the UK’s first carbon neutral university, but debate persists over whether student travel emissions should remain optional to report.

  1. I was a lecturer at LSE 20 years ago. I doubt much changed [until the pandemic] in the considerable number of flights undertaken by the [very international] faculty flying around the world, all producing CO2. University of Edinburgh did make efforts to account for and reduce those emissions in their Business Travel accounting. https://www.ed.ac.uk/files/atoms/files/business_travel_report_methodology_statement_-_october_2020.pdf Do not know if LSE yet does this.
