How academics and corporates can learn from each other

Academia and the corporate sector are two worlds that can learn from one another.

That’s the view of Dr Lesley Halliday, YourTutor’s general manager of academic services, who made the jump to a corporate career. Previously, she worked at Macquarie University, the University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney, and the UK’s University of Derby.

“Academia is focused on education, knowledge generation, new theories and methodologies,” Halliday explains. “I think what the commercial world allows to happen with academia is for those methodologies and theories to be translated and applied in real world settings to more tangible problems that are in real life.”

In this podcast, Campus Review talked to Halliday about bridging the gap between the corporate and academic worlds.
