Sydney Conservatorium hosts rap musical adaptation of ‘The Odyssey’

One of Australia’s oldest music schools will host a sold out performance of students and a slam poet rapping an adaptation of Homer’s 3000-year-old epic, The Odyssey.

He was one of the commanders of the invading Greek armies against Troy, his cunning won the war for the Greeks and he was returning home victorious. Whatever this story parallels, it’s not that of the current refugee crisis.

    They [Phaeacians] will send him in a ship to his own country, and will give him more bronze and gold and raiment than he would have brought back from Troy, if he had had all his prize money and had got home without disaster. This is how we have settled that he shall return to his country and his friends.”
