I’m all for giving TAFE money again but honestly I think it would be better redirected towards university than TAFE. I’ve been to both and I know the HUGE difference in teaching quality. Most people already now say they learn barely anything at TAFE and mostly on the top in apprenticeships etc etc.
TAFE and VET are necessary. In my long experience as an employer I find that committed TAFE students are far superior to their university qualified (only) counterparts. Obviously both Uni and TAFE are necessary, but Vocational Education is often forgotten and it often treated as an afterthought by government. It needs to be back on the agenda and remain their alongside TAFE and Uni as the critical pathway that it is.
