  1. I agree that it would be far better to concentrate on outputs than inputs. But unfortunately there is no publicly verifiable information on the quality of Australian universities’ graduates. All we have are the earnest assurances of appropriate quality, tho we know there is no systematic process for comparing standards between years, programs and institutions. In the absence of such information it is entirely understandable that people focus on entry scores.
