Vic government moves on university councils
State legislation to strip university councils of staff and student representatives has the backing of universities across Victoria, says the Minister for Innovation, Louise Asher.

Victorian ‘universities’ don’t strongly support the Victorian Government’s proposed changes to university councils, but their chancellors: many others in universities strongly oppose the proposals. It serves universities right for appointing business blokes as chancellors: I doubt that the judges who were previously chancellors would support such a change.
Since the Victorian Government contributes 2.2% of Victorian universities’ funding it should appoint 2.2% of their council members.
