Marwick joins Menzies

Professor Tom Marwick has been welcomed by the University of Tasmania as the Menzies Research Institute Tasmania’s new director. Marwick has an outstanding record in both medical research and research leadership in Australia and internationally, and has a strong interest in research directed at practical health outcomes. “We are very excited to have such a distinguished research leader and clinician to guide our efforts to deliver improved health outcomes for people in Tasmania and elsewhere,” said Dr Dan Norton, chairman of the Menzies board. “Menzies is about to enter another exciting era. We have a great team and fantastic new facilities.” University vice-chancellor Professor Peter Rathjen also welcomed the appointment: “As a respected cardiovascular expert with many years of academic, research and teaching experience behind him, Professor Marwick will strongly guide the Menzies focus on population health and disease.”
