  1. I purchased an OUP e- book (EBL platform) for our University Library and discovered that although the chapters were heavily referenced in-text, the actual reference lists for each chapter had been omitted. I thought this was just a mistake in the e-version and wrote to OUP about it. Their only response was to send me a free copy of the print version: but it also had omitted the references! They also referred me to a website where I could see the references. This appalling slip in scholarly publishing standards left me dumfounded. My previous high regard for OUP took a nosedive at that point.
