ACT collaboration could pay dividends

A model such as University of Canberra Institute of Technology (UCIT) may be a better way to implement TAFE/university collaborations than the present dual sector system, UC vice-chancellor Stephen Parker says.

  1. One would have to wonder as to whether this proposal was more about face saving for a range of parties, than to do anything all that substantial. Time will tell on this, but to spruik this as an innovative new model before even any of the details have been worked through is far too optimistic.

    One would also have to question the CIT’s motivation to be involved, as the economics don’t look good from their angle. The main courses they make money from are the Diploma/Advanced Diploma level courses, so why would they be interested in giving them away to a new institution?
