  1. Not only students are being refused service! I am a postdoctoral fellow working at UQ, I am a taxpayer, I have appropriate provate insurance but my wife can not give birth in Brisbane! As the RBWH will not accept us and we live outside the Mater Hospital catchment, we are forced to get prenatal and birth sevices outside of Brisbane (Ipswich Hospital, a 40 minutes drive from home without trafic). QLD healthcare policy is degrading and as such it will stop many qualified academics and professionals from coming here as temporary residents.
