Ged Kearney appointed to Skills Australia Board

The president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions, Ms Ged Kearney, has been appointed to the board of Skills Australia, effective immediately. Kearney replaces departing board member Sharan Burrow and joins existing chair Philip Bullock and board members Professor Gerald Burke, Dr Michael Keating, Ms Marie Persson, Mrs Heather Ridout and Mr Keith Spence who were appointed in 2008 when Skills Australia was established. Kearney has a strong personal commitment to education and professional development of the workforce. Following completion of her bachelor of education she moved into the specialty area of clinical education, providing support for newly graduated nurses, access to and development of re-entry and refresher courses for nurses to re-enter the workforce. Professional development for nurses became her particular interest.
