Chancellor re-signs at Swinburne

Swinburne University’s Council has extended Bill Scales’s appointment as chancellor for another five years until September 2016. Scales has been Swinburne chancellor since 2005. He also chairs the Port of Melbourne Corporation and holds senior council and committee positions with the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Scales was a member of the Bradley Review panel and was subsequently appointed to the reference group advising the federal government on higher education regulation. He was also recently appointed to the expert panel conducting the review of funding for schooling. His career also includes stints as secretary of Victoria’s Department of Premier and Cabinet and as chair and chief executive of the Productivity Commission.
