Research funding up, but make sure you collaborate

The federal government will replace the Institutional Grants Scheme, establish a new “hubs and spokes” funding program and move towards covering universities’ indirect research costs, in a major revamp of university research funding. The reforms will shift the emphasis to collaboration – and away from success in attracting competitive research grants – as a primary driver for the allocation of research block funds.
