Lalloo joins Griffith ulcer disease, has been awarded an honorary doctor of science (honoris causa) from Oxford University. Marshall is currently clinical professor of microbiology and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Western Australia. Others presented with honorary degrees at the same ceremony were novelist Philip Pullman and Fazle Hasan Abed, a Bangladeshi poverty campaigner and humanitarian.
