Applicants up, offers down: supply checked by full-fee ban

Unmet demand – declared all but dead last year – appears headed for a resurrection, according to main round university admission figures released over the past fortnight. As applications trend upwards, following the script dictated by economic turmoil and demographic change, overall early and main round offers have faltered – partly constrained by the federal government’s ban on full-fee domestic undergraduate places.
