Bean appointed to UK’s Open University

Australian expat Martin Bean has been appointed as the fifth vice-chancellor of the UK’s Open University. Currently general manager responsible for product management, marketing and business development for the Worldwide Education Products Group at Microsoft, Bean has held senior executive positions with several organisations, including Novell., Sylvan Learning, Thomson Learning, and New Horizons Computer Learning Centres. Bean is a member of the national board of directors of Jobs for America’s Graduates and was on the board of directors and executive committee for the Computing Technology Industry Association, chairing its public policy committee, 2002-04. Bean holds a bachelors degree in adult education from UTS.
