Professor Peter Coaldrake, the vice-chancellor of Queensland University of Technology, is the chair-elect of Universities Australia for 2009-2011. Coaldrake has held the position of UA’s deputy chair during 2008, and will assume the responsibilities of chair for a two-year period from 19 May. Coaldrake took up his position as vice-chancellor of QUT in April 2003, where he had previously been deputy vice-chancellor. Prior to that he served for four years as chair and CEO of Queensland’s Public Sector Management Commission. Coaldrake is a dual Fulbright scholar and the author or editor of several books and monographs.
