Tzannes appointed UNSW dean

Award-winning architect Alec Tzannes has been appointed as the new dean of the Faculty of the Built Environment at the University of New South Wales. Founder of the high profile Sydney architectural practice Tzannes Associates, Tzannes has won numerous national and state awards, and is the immediate past national president of the Australian Institute of Architects. Tzannes is a graduate of the University of Sydney, and has a master of science (architecture and urban design) from Columbia University. After graduating, he worked in the Office of the NSW Government Architect for five years before spending six years as an associate with Glenn Murcutt and Associates. He started his own practice in 1982. Tzannes will take up the position in early November. He replaces Professor Peter Murphy, who is retiring after five years in the role.
