Six slip or dive into the red

Six Australian universities didn’t manage to keep their heads above water in 2007, posting deficits ranging from $250,000 to $15.9 million. The University of New South Wales, La Trobe University, Central Queensland University, the University of Western Australia, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education and the University of Canberra all went into the red, according to figures released last week by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
