Couldn’t agree more Robin and particularly on the issue of student selection for appropriate courses. In the automotive trades we still suffer an attrition rate of around 50 per cent which is neither good for the industry or the student. In many ways the industry has a selection and retention challenge….if we could complete 80 per cent of the students that started an apprenticeship we could just about remove the current skill shortages. More contextualized tools for employers and students to achieve a better fit between aspiration and occupation would be a great outcome.
