Vic public and private providers unite on stronger regulation
TAFE Victoria has joined forces with the peak body for private education providers in calling on the state government to commit to higher quality standards across all providers. In the latest twist in the Victorian VET funding saga the two leading associations of training providers have publicly committed to higher standards for educationally quality, well above the Victorian government’s quality levels.

Strengthening the standards in the training sector is commendable and will hopefully address the deficiencies in the existing AQTF standards. The problem I suspect will remain as ACPET is a membership based organisation. Those private RTOs who are already members are not likely to be the providers who are undermining the credibility of VET. I suspect it will be those who are not ACPET members will continue to reinvent themselves and creatively exploit the system having ‘relinquished’ their membership. Would be interested to know of the 35 complaints how many were in Victoria. With the history of the international student debacle still smouldering away it will take some time for confidence to be restored in the private system.
