Four Aussie unis get top 50 nod in ranking of scientific papers

Four Australian universities have been named in the top 50 in a world ranking of scientific papers – one for the first time.

  1. The ranking contains a 15% weighting for “articles in the current year in high impact journals” . This supports the old school attitude that place of publication is a surrogate variable for quality – whereas the DORA declaration, and numerous other measures, only rank the quality of the work, not place of publication. I recommend they remove this 15% and see how things look.
