Ex-diplomat to lead Curtin minerals research

Former US diplomat Robin McClellan has been appointed director of minerals research initiatives at Curtin University. McClellan was formerly US consul general to Western Australia and the director of the committee for the economic development of Australia. At CEDA, she helped ensure broad exposure of a range of views on the minerals resource rent tax. Since 2011, she has been a senior government relations adviser for Exxon Mobil in Singapore. A key part of her new role is attracting co-investment for research, training and engagement in minerals research from government, business, industry and charitable foundations. The aim is to further enhance the development of Curtin’s existing networks. She has worked with Curtin previously as a lecturer at the university’s graduate school of business in 2010 and as a speaker at events and roundtables.
