By what reckoning are only ’10 Australian universities are performing above the world standard for research’ according to the 2012 ERA? By my count 36 institutions had at least 1 unit rated 3 or better and 30 had at least 1 unit rated 5.
Hi Gavin, we note that you refer to 36 institutions which had at least 1 unit rated 3 or better and 30 had at least 1 unit rated 5.
We were giving an overall description of universities in Australia.
We referred to the ERA report and to the federal minister, Chris Evans’s, press release of December 6, 2012.
It will always be the case that only a quarter to a third of research applications succeed. In order not to get too depressed,putting more time into creating an excellent learning experience for one’s student might be satisfying. If there was more reward for this effort all could be happy
