Bond appoints Saunders new DVC

Bond University has announced the appointment of Professor Nicholas Saunders to the position of deputy vice-chancellor. Saunders was previously the vice-chancellor of the University of Newcastle for eight years. Prior to this he held several senior academic roles including dean of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash; head of the Faculty of Health Sciences and dean of the School of Medicine at Flinders University and positions at McMasters University, Canada and Harvard. Saunders holds a medical degree with first-class honours from the University of Sydney and has been influential in the advancement of medical education through his extensive contribution to many higher education, research and healthcare national committees, councils and state bodies. Throughout his career he has been chair of the National Health and Medical Research Council; served on the Higher Education Council; the Prime Minister’s Science Engineering and Innovation Council and the Australian Research Council.
