New chancellor for Ballarat

The University of Ballarat has announced the appointment of Dr Paul Hemming as its next chancellor for a three-year term commencing on July 1. A deputy chancellor of the university since 2011, Hemming has been a member of the university council since 2007. Born in the UK, He and his family moved to Australia in 1977 and settled in Ballarat. He has had an extensive medical career as a general practitioner. He was a founding director of Beyondblue and has been president of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Hemming also was a state president of the Australian Medical Association (Victoria) and has served on numerous federal government medical bodies and tribunals.
