Baldock to lead Macquarie science faculty

Current head of the School of Physics at the University of Sydney, Professor Clive Baldock will become the new Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science at Macquarie University. Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Jim Piper said Professor Baldock was the ideal person to lead Macquarie’s already highly-regarded science faculty to even greater honours. Professor Baldock will commence his new role in August. He succeeds Professor Stephen Thurgate, who has led the science faculty at Macquarie since 2006, and who will now focus on the significant growth of Macquarie’s profile in the teaching and research of engineering. Baldock graduated from the University of Sussex, Brighton, United Kingdom where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with Honours in 1987. His current research interests continue to be in the physics of radiation therapy, dosimetry and medical imaging in which he has published over 125 journal research papers. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Physical Sciences and Engineering in Medicine, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Physics, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in the UK and a Fellow of the Institute of Physical Sciences in Medicine also in the UK.
