Resources sector squibs training

Skill shortages don’t matter if you can simply outbid other industries.

Skill shortages are unlikely to hamper the resources sector over the next decade, according to a new report from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). The report, 'Tradespeople for the resources sector: projections 2010-2020', suggests that the resource industries are likely to need only about 11,300 more tradespeople 10 years from now - with their demand for skilled workers growing just 1.2 per cent a year - under average employment growth scenarios.
