Hilmer and NTEU go head to head over fixed term contractsAn industrial dispute at UNSW is picking up steam as strike action is threatened. The clash between staff and management at UNSW could further intensify this week, with staff considering strike action after both sides refused to budge on their position. A meeting between the National Tertiary Education Union and the university last week was unsuccessful in resolving the dispute over the union's demand - and university's refusal - to limit the use of fixed-term contracts. As a result, members of the union voted to continue the results bans until at least 20 July when a decision will be made on taking further action, including striking.
