What talk about standards?Teacher quality is very much part of the education revolution. So why is it that nearly 60 per cent of the TAFE workforce have no teaching qualifications, writes Pat Forward. For those in the TAFE sector with a keen interest in its future, and more than a passing interest in its history, the recent release of the NCVER publication 'Vocational education and training workforce data 2008: A compendium' will have been concerning. This work is an update of the 2004 publication, 'Getting the measure of the VET professional', and is therefore the second attempt by the NCVER to gather together some reliable data on the TAFE and VET workforce.
