Compacts: an opportunity for reform?

How will mission-based compacts help inspire radical reform in teaching and learning, asks Kerri-Lee Krause.

Mission-based compacts represent one of three pillars in the federal government's ambitious higher education reform agenda. A second is that of standards, to be monitored through the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). The third area of reform focuses on partnerships with schools, vocational education providers and community organisations to raise aspirations and increase the university participation of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
