The University of Wollongong has announced that Garry Bowditch has been appointed as director of the SMART Infrastructure Facility. The facility, which is under construction at UOW, will be a world-class research and training centre designed to address Australia’s future infrastructure needs. A Wollongong commerce graduate, Bowditch worked for the Commonwealth Public Service and made the move into industry in 2000 with senior executive roles at TAB and Tennix Solutions. In 2005, he was appointed founding director of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and established vmax Consulting in 2008, a boutique consultancy firm specialising in international public-private partnerships in the Asian market. Bowditch took up his post on 3 May.
